The electromagnetic crosstalk control requirements within the RF cavities of 5G macro and micro base stations are stringent.
The electromagnetic crosstalk control requirements within the RF cavities of 5G macro and micro base stations are stringent. The shielding fabric within the confined space of these cavities needs to possess characteristics such as uniform electromagnetic distribution, breathability, heat dissipation, and ease of cutting and assembly. Irregularly woven fabrics are prone to uneven shielding strength in certain areas, easily causing RF signal leakage and loss. A new, regularly woven conductive fabric, based on a square warp and weft grid design, achieves uniform electromagnetic blocking throughout the cavity and is now being supplied in large quantities to the communication equipment manufacturing industry chain.
The fabric uses an equidistant square warp and weft weaving process, with consistent conductive coating thickness in both horizontal and vertical yarns. The grid holes are arranged in a regular and orderly manner, and the shielding effectiveness error in any area of the entire roll of fabric is less than 2dB, completely avoiding the problem of local shielding shortcomings. The moderate grid hole structure also provides slight breathability, which helps dissipate heat from the RF module, solving the problem of heat rise in the sealed shielding cavity and extending the service life of base station components. The fabric is flexible and can be easily cut into cavity gaskets and port sealing shielding strips of any size. Its automated installation efficiency is far higher than that of rigid metal shielding structures, significantly reducing manual labor time in base station assembly.
For outdoor base station conditions exposed to sun and rain, the product undergoes hydrophobic and anti-oxidation treatment, preventing rainwater from easily penetrating the internal fibers. Even after more than 8 years of outdoor use, the conductive layer shows no oxidation or peeling. Various die-cut shielding products based on the mesh conductive fabric are widely used in filter cavities, antenna storage compartments, and RF motherboard enclosure protection. Data from the communications industry chain shows that the market share of mesh conductive fabric in flexible shielding accessories for base stations has steadily increased in the past year. The R&D team will next optimize the mesh aperture ratio to meet the pre-research needs of 6G UHF communication equipment.
